Niacin, or nicotinic acid has a healthy
effect on the blood fats, which is important to the
person with coronary artery disease. Niacin can lower the
"bad" cholesterol in the blood, elevate the
"good" cholesterol and decrease triglycerides.

 My own case
The
first idea about our web, "Cholesterol Anonymous" was due to my own case of High cholesterol and
posterior cure.
In 1980 I was 30 years old, height 1,7m.
weighed 75 kilos. I enjoyed drinking alcohol, smoking and
eating fatty foods.
After a general blood analysis, I discovered
that I had more than 300 mg/dl in cholesterol.
From then on, my quality of life, slowly
deteriorated. My weight even reached 95 kilos, I suffered
from insomnia, I was hearing neurotic noises, I suffered
with depression, Tiredness, Temperal loss of sight, etc..
After years with hemorrhoids, I had to undergo
2 operations in Hospital.
Finally
at the beginning of 1999, I had an herpes that left me
bed bound for several weeks and observed that the last
blood analysis reached over 320 mg/ml in cholesterol.
My
doctor recommended a special diet with a wide variety of
foods, that bored my wife and proved unsucessful.
I
wanted to get to the bottom of the problem and after vast
research, I discovered that the secret was in the vitamin
B3, also known as niacin and Nicotinic acid.
Subsequently,
I searched for foods rich in B3, and found that the
highest quantity was in ox liver.
Accidentally, many books ignore it because it belongs to
the group of viscera that all doctors prohibit without
doubt.
Evaluating
the good and the bat, I decided to try the ox
liver, for a period of time.
I bought
two kilos ox liver and in order to
eliminate its strong flavour, I minced all of it and
mixed it with onions, garlic, parsley, bread crumbs,
flour and boiled potatoes. When the mixture was of good
consistancy, I began to make 20 delicious burger,
each of approx 150 grams. Once prepared they can be
frozen or stored in the fridge, not forgettin to
individually wrap them beforehand in tinfoil or plastic
bags.
Every day I ate one of the
burgers (containing about 100grams of ox liver,)
equivalent to 16 (mg) from Niacin (B3). Some days I would
eat one for lunch and others days one for dinner, maybe
on its own or even with tomatoes or sauces.
From
the 5th day, I began regulating my stomach, and the
noises in my head dissapeared. Little by little, I
started to regain my creativity and the desire to make
things.
On
the 10th day of eating the ox liver
burgers, my weight reduced to 90 kilos and I began to
re-furnish my house and painted all the interior. I even
renovated my old abandoned web page of 2 years.
Slowly
I began I feel born again, recovering the vitality that I
had lost.
The
"course" of burgers lasted 20 days and at the
end of the month, I returned to the clinic for another
blood analysis and indeed my cholesterol had fallen to
245 mg/dl. However I am still overcoming the minimum of
240 mg/dl, but it lowered 75 mg/dl in less than a month.
I
now adore ox liver and I am not
short of any in my freezer, in case I fancy some from
time to time.
